The safety and security of our students is our number one priority. We believe in continuous improvement to keep our students safe. Our teachers have been trained in safety procedures and emergency response. OCS is required to have the following safety drills:

• Fire drills - every month

• Tornado drills - every month, April through June only

• Lockdown drills - three (3) times per school year (parents will be notified prior to implementation)

 

We are continually finding ways to improve safety around the building. For example, we have improved landscaping to increase visibility and  emphasized adult awareness of the physical surroundings. Staff are have been given permission and encouraged to question those who are near our schools without obvious purpose. We have learned that an alert, aware, and prudent staff and community is the most effective method of keeping our students safe.

We continue to ask students, staff, and parents, if you see something, say something.

Please know that in the event of an emergency, school closing or delay, OCS will communicate to the public promptly and through the same channels as School Closing Notifications.
